Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Semi-Final 2016

On Tuesday 7 June we are partnering with Sky Arts to host the semi-final for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year.

Following the successful filming of the heats of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year this May, we are delighted to welcome back Sky Arts for the filming of the semi-final this June.

As home to some of the greatest portraits in the world, the Wallace Collection is the perfect place to showcase new talent. Visitors will have the opportunity to view all six competition heats in our Courtyard as both amateur and professional artists compete for a chance to win a £10,000 commission for a major British institution and £500 of art materials from Cass Art.

All seven semi-finalists will be returning to our Courtyard to paint the portrait of a celebrity on Tuesday 7 June, 10am- 4pm, and the public is welcome to come and watch.

Unfortunately, to facilitate the semi-final the Wallace Restaurant and European Armoury III will be closed on Tuesday 7 June. The Wallace Collection apologises for any inconvenience this may cause to your visit.

I’m visiting London on the 10th of May and have you on my list of galleries to visit. Can you tell me please if photography and sketching are allowed?

Many thanks.

Dear Andrew, photography and sketching is allowed under certain conditions: we do not allow flash photography or tripods, and when sketching we ask that only pencils and coloured pencils, verithick pencils and barrel pencil sharpeners are used.
